Support the Club
Donate via The Hawks’ and Ospreys Charitable Trust
For many years, alumni have supplemented Residents’ subscriptions to help run the Club and the Clubhouse in Cambridge. Historically this has contributed about £25k pa.
In May 2020, the Trustees started a quiet campaign to increase this, as the Clubhouse needed investment, and the pandemic threatened core income streams. Currently, (Sept 2021) we are up to £78k pa.
We continue to ask those who have never or have not recently given, to either set up a direct debit (see below) or update their donation status.
As a guide, we are asking for £10 a month, or more, if you can. We are targeting a recurring donation fund of £100k pa by the start of the 2022 academic year – please help us reach this goal!
Support for the Hawks’ Club falls within the objects of The Hawks’ and Ospreys Charitable Trust and the Trustees have the discretion to make grants to the Club. If you wish to support the Hawks’ Club for the enjoyment of current and future generations of Hawks, you can ask the Trustees to use your donation for this purpose.
All gifts made through the Hawks’ website are treated as being made to the Hawks’ and Ospreys Charitable Trust with an expression of wishes that the funds be allocated to the Club or other sports clubs affiliated to the University of Cambridge which you have indicated as the desired recipient of your generous gift. The Trust retains the discretion to allocate the funds for a broader purpose, but it fully intends to apply the funds in accordance with your wishes wherever possible. An expression of wishes shall not give rise to a trust or other legally-binding obligation.
If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete the Gift Aid form, and the Trust will be able to increase the scale of its grants by claiming Gift Aid on your donation.
The Members’ Directory (click here) has been updated to show members’ donation status. A gold Hawks’ badge is next to the name of members who gave £1000+ last year, a silver Hawks’ badge next to members who gave £100+ and a bronze Hawks’ badge next to members who gave £99 or less. A Hawks’ Club lapel pin is given to members who donate £100+ each year (members with gold or silver badges next to their name). These lapel pins are available at the Clubhouse and at Club events (please get in touch if you would like a pin sent to you in the post).
