The Hawks’ Club Movember is well underway!
Movember is the leading charity in the UK addressing men’s health issues, focussing primarily on mental health and suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer. They’ve done some fantastic work in the past, and this year we’re looking to support them further!
1. Growing a Mo
I’m sure that this will delight some of you and terrify others, but the best way to get involved in Movember is to grow a moustache. This can be any style or shape you like, even if it does look like a stiff breeze would knock it off your top lip.
As per Movember rules, all you have to do is shave clean on the morning of November 1st, and grow out the Mo over the remainder of the month.
Alongside doing this, we’d love it if you could keep us posted with your shave-down and your progress. The Movember app is a pretty great way to do so (and also allows you to make a progress video for the whole month), but all you really need to do is send in pictures either to the Hawks’ Facebook/Instagram accounts. Stories and tagging us in them are also very welcome.
As for donations, it would be great if you could get family members/doubting friends to sponsor you – but all that’s necessary is making a contribution yourself to the donation page. Details are below.
2. Joining our Talk
We will be having a Movember Ambassador join us virtually, to deliver a talk about mental health and suicide prevention, on Thursday 19th November at 7 pm. More details can be found on the Facebook event here: https://fb.me/e/3a4KyVdfl.
3. Taking part in our Pub Quiz
Finally, we’ll also be running a Movember-themed virtual pub quiz, with a date and prizes to be announced. Rumour has it that some very tasty stash will feature among the prizes… Again, stay tuned!
How to donate
Our donation page can be found here: https://movember.com/t/hawks-club-cambridge?mc=1
Donations can be made directly to this page. Alternatively, if you’ve got your own personal account and want to do your own thing, you can join the team on the page – that way, any personal fundraising that you do will count towards the Hawks’ effort.
Best of luck chaps – we’re looking forward to seeing some absolutely excellent and some truly terrible moustaches.
